Missions in Mazatlan, Mexico

Meet Joe & Laurie Pachecho

Joe and Laurie Pacheco went to Mazatlan some time ago to temporarily fill in for a Bible study couple who needed to return to the states. Little did they realize that God had much bigger plans for them. God told Joe that he was to build churches in various communities to spread the gospel and through these churches he was to train ministers to go out and spread the word that Jesus Christ is real. Now, some 37 years, Joe and Laurie are still doing exactly that.
Joe and Laurie are an incredible team..Joe is the visionary and Laurie is administrator. Joe does the building (literally) and Laurie intreprets for the people and performs alll the duties in running the church.

Children's Ministry

Another of their ministries is the children’s ministry. This programs helps feed the children of
the church on a regular basis and through the work of Yolanda Vega, many of the kids receives shoes and clothing.
Through the sports ministry headed up by Carlos the children are given instructions in various sports and provided uniforms. In doing so, the children have a place to go on a regular basis so as to keep them off the streets and out of gang activity.

Meet John Payne

John Payne is an American missionary from San Diego, CA.  After graduating from the Horizon School of Evangelism, John sensed a call from the Lord to serve in Mexico.   John now helps run the Most Excellent Way Regeneration Center in the red light district of Mazatlan.

Drug Regeneration Center - Most Excellent Way

They maintain a drug rehabilitation center (The Most Excellent Way)  takes in people addicted to drugs and alcohol and through total abstinence and the teaching of the Word of God, they have the developed an efficient program manned by licensed professionals. It has been recognized by the Mexican government as the second most effective in the country.   They support a clinic in the city which has been recognized by the state of Sinola as the clinic with the second best cure rate in the state.  Much of this they believe is because of the spirit factor and love of Jesus Christ that is taught to totally regenerate the patients. Many are allowed to stay until they feel comfortable to manage on their own and some go on to preach the Word at local ejidos. John Payne, ( adult in the grey t-shirt) who was instrumental in getting the center started is seen here entertaining some of the children of a nearby village.
